There’s how a person presents and what actually happens behind the scenes. Often, we only get a slice, filtered through our own perceptions.
Online, this carefully curated persona is barely a sliver of that slice (assuming it’s even true).
And it’s becoming increasingly disheartening watching people spend all their focus on the presentation while completely ignoring what’s happening behind the scenes. Especially when you know there’s a disaster happening back there.
This isn’t to say we should all just splay our dirty laundry for the world to see, but it will only be a matter of time before it’ll be the only thing people see if it’s not taken care of.
It’s not easy,
or fast;
but it will make that presentation infinitely easier to keep up.
