My family and I went to a special butterfly exhibit happening in one of our prominent museums in the city.
For the half-hour we were in the special room where the winged creatures flew free, my two-year old kept pointing and shouting, “another butterfly!”
After we got home, we played with some bubbles. He was just as mesmerized.
Butterflies and bubbles: they hold the attention of toddlers and seniors, each looking at it with the same sense of wonder. One is discovering the joys of life and the other is re-discovering the joys life has to offer.
We forget about those joys in the time between those two ages.
We search the world for happiness, awe and wonder… when all we had to do was look in our own backyard.
It’s always been there. Maybe it’s time to look at it again with new eyes.
