New writers are often worried the first piece they send out to the world will be met with such disdain that their dream of writing will come to an immediate halt.
This makes them timid to try new things and experiment to see what works. They want to play it safe out of fear.
What they don’t realize is the best time to fail is when you don’t have an audience. You can’t turn off an audience you don’t already have, so why worry?
Being unknown has the amazing benefit of being able to fail often, iterate your performance and try something new. It’s also much cheaper because your audience is so much smaller.
If you’re just starting out on a new endeavour, now is the time to experiment. See what works, what resonates and keep tweaking until you get somewhere that works well for you.
Our technological progress has made the point of entry, and the cost of failing, dirt cheap. Take advantage of it.
