One Million Words a Year

Frederick Faust, aka, Max Brand (and many other pen names) was legendary for his output in writing. He was prolific, being able to pump out 13-14 pages a day… every day… for thirty years. That’s just over a million words a year.

He did this all on his typewriter, making today’s modern writer look absolutely lazy.

The question to ponder is whether his goal is still attainable?

We like to think the world has changed and things are much different, but his ability to produce came from a work ethic rooted in stubbornness and sacrifice. It’s still the same formula that separates the achievers from the dreamers.

I look to this goal as something to accomplish in my own life and while I’m starting much later than he did, there should be no reason why it can’t be done.

Today we are living longer, healthier and given more resources to thrive.

Why can’t the accomplishments of yesterday still be available to us today? To think otherwise is just a poor mindset.

Audacious goals, when pursued, should never end in disappointment. You may not fully get there, but you will be much further along than when you started.

I’ll keep you updated.
