The only issue with the ripple effect of helping others is we may never learn its long-term effects.
As a teacher, I can only plant seeds within my students and hope that one day they will grow into something wonderful. That may happen a decade later, or decades. Who can be certain?
This can be disheartening for someone who is giving their all to support others and not seeing any feedback for their work. It is compounded by our society, which has been conditioning us to want things immediately, if not sooner.
To add even further depressing sentiments, not all seeds will take to the soil in which they are planted.
However, this should not be the reason to be discouraged in the work we do.
It is not for us to decide how and when plants will grow, but we can take solace in knowing the world will be a lot nicer when it happens.
