The Knee-Jerk Reaction

When something awful happens, we have a responsibility to react.

Our reactions over the years have ranged considerably from severely violent measures to completely peaceful protests. We’ve been trained over the generations to always take a step back and breathe so we don’t sway towards the violent end of things.

This helps because violence only begets violence and sometimes, the facts aren’t always accurate.

The benefit of our inter-connected world is the ability to respond immediately to any situation. However, our knee-jerk reactions aren’t much different than what’s happened in our own history. Reactions are quick, violent, full of hate and it becomes an endless yelling match. We’re doing a great job of discrediting each other based on these responses and people are starting to sway towards taking a step back before responding.

However, we still have a responsibility to respond.
