The Pile of Laundry and Dishes

Laundry is one of those chores that will never be complete. Just when you thought it was all done, another pile magically appears and you’re off again.

The same goes for the dishes that accumulate in your sink. Wash, dry, put away and magically, the sink is full again.

It can be enough to send anyone into despair if their goal in life is to finish all their laundry or clean all the dishes. Instead, people think of those chores as something to do in this moment. As they pile up, you clean and put them away.

The process is more important than the goal.

It’s actually a wonderful lesson for life.

Being obsessed with a goal can drive you to insanity because once you get to the one you set, another is established because what we want to achieve is always “just a little more.” You can also get lost in the details of how that goal will be reached.

Those who are process oriented accomplish more with greater satisfaction because they’re not thinking about the end. They’re just doing what needs to get done today.

Put away the laundry. Clear the sink.

Don’t even worry about tomorrow.
