The Wide Divide

There’s been coverage from many sources about the class divide happening in our world.

However, we’re failing to see the other divide happening and that’s the divide between the apathetic and the determined. Not to lump people into two easy categories, as life is never that easy, but the middle is filtering away.

You can see it in the schools with students who are coasting by and learning to work the system. On the other end, their peers are working hard, accomplishing great tasks and learning more than their teachers.

The students in-between these extremes are disappearing, but not all together gone.

You also see it at the workplace with those who (visibly) hate every minute of being there and those who embrace their role. The middle is dispersing.

We have to ask ourselves whether the future is going to be an endless struggle of one end pulling the other. No matter who is doing the pulling, it’s going to be a rough ride.

Perhaps it’s time we figure out, with the greatest access to resources for every human being in the history of the planet, what’s causing the divide?
