Many are getting ready for the first day of school.
There’s some excitement (probably from the parents), disappointment at the summer ending (from both teachers and students) and nervousness about the upcoming year (again… both students and teachers).
For students entering into a new atmosphere, it’s going to be a nerve wracking experience while they learn to find their rhythm.
For teachers who are new, or new enough where this isn’t old habit, there’s always some nervousness about whether we’ve prepared enough. Spoiler: you can never prepare enough to lose that feeling.
After a few weeks, things begin to settle into a rhythm and the nervousness about the first days wash away.
Then new nerves pick up about something upcoming.
The process repeats itself until we remember the big things we stressed about turned out okay in the long run.
When nervousness starts to overtake you about something upcoming, just think of the students and teachers going back to school.
It happens every year and it usually turns out okay.
