When Compassion Wears us Down

Compassion fatigue is common among those whose profession is to be of service to others.

Even friends who always provide a listening ear can suddenly become physically and emotionally drained. It’s never from a lack of wanting to be of help, but the body has its limitations…

There needs to be time to recharge. Among the many suggestions you can unearth, the one that always works for me is to play.

Head out to a gym and play a rec sport with random people. Go outside and throw a ball around, ride a bike, or skip rocks on some water. Gather some people and play board games together.

Do something active. Do something fun.

Be playful.

Nurture your inner child and you will find the refreshment you need.
