When It Stops Being Work

As a high school chaplain, there wasn’t a day where I felt like I was going to work.

There were busy times, stressful situations and frustrations, but they felt like regular parts of my day rather than work situations. In that role, it became clear what work should feel like when you’re doing something you love.

Friendships, relationships, parenting, employment, hobbies — the goal is to move beyond having them feel like work. There will be tough days and points that will force you to pull your hair out (if you still have any left), but they will be minor compared to the overall satisfaction with what you do.

When elements of your life stop becoming work, you end up having a fulfilled life.

All it takes is a shift in attitude and willingness to approach things differently.
